Out of Character Posting - Be civil. Breaking this rule will not be tolerated. We are all different people with different opinions and different backgrounds and cultures. Get over it. If someone doesn't agree with you on something, remember that this isn't a debate forum, it's an RP forum. On that note, don't take personal things into character. If you have a problem with the person who writes for the brother of your character, be a mature writer and keep the stories moving. Don't just suddenly have your character hate his brother out of nowhere, because you have a problem with the creator. If you can't stand to play with the other person, at least make the characters hatred amusing, and believeable. Length of Post - While there is no set guideline for how long your post should be, we at least ask that you give something to the person you are playing with. If they write three paragraphs, then you should at least try and match them.
Style - In character posts should always be written in third person, past tense.
Explicit Content - We're not writing for Penthouse "Roman Orgy" Edition. But it's not like the characters won't ever have sex, get pregnant, curse and kill eachother brutally. Anything can happen in the real world, and anything could happen back then. Just try to have a little dignity when writing it. Also, if you're RPing with another writer and they are uncomfortable with writing sex scenes, then you can always pull the: "Four hours (or minutes) later, they collapsed in eachothers arms." Control - You and you alone control your character. You may not control anyone else’s character, unless you have their permission. When will you have permission? Well, sometimes some of us can go on long term vacations, or are just sick and don't want to hold up storylines. You may give permission to another player to play out your character for storyline purpose until your return. But let the admins know before hand. Activity - This is a big one here. Because Heroes & Legends currently does not have a limit to how many characters you may apply for, you need to keep them ALL active. Some of us have anywhere from 2 - 32 characters and then some. It happens when you play with the same characters for over a decade, you get attached to them, but then want to interact more with others and you create new characters. Any characters that are not involved with anything, post and let others know that you are interested in creating some things with your character. Also, if you just can't keep up with your characters, add them to the adoption forum and maybe someone else can bring them back to life. Absences - We have a forum where you can go to post if you are going to be away for a while. This way, if you are involved with storylines, they don't get held up on your account. Also, we won't have to worry about you. Also try either to move your character out of any scenes that they are involved in, or ask someone else to take temporary control of your character. Note: If you are gone longer than two weeks and are holding up threads, our NPC Admin will take over your character for the purpose of Storylines and Activity until the admins decide whether or not you're character needs to be put up for Adoption. History - We are very aware that by the time Augustus ruled the Roman Empire, that Greece was a Kingless nation. But this is historical fiction if you want to give it any name. Be true to the character you pick as well as you can (if they are an actual historical figure,) but let your imagination take you places. Gods do exist and can speak, and even mate with mortals. If your character has a mother for a mortal and a God as a father, they may have some powers. Powers similar to that of Hercules, just to keep in mind. In Character / Out of Character - Just because you may know something that's a secret, doesn't mean your character does. Is your character's wife cheating on him? Guess what? Unless he catches her in the act, or is told by someone else, he won't know about it.
